William B. Schadt, 79, of Lincoln, Iowa, died from natural causes on Thursday, February 08, 2007 in McAllen, Texas. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the Salem Church of Lincoln in Lincoln, Iowa, with Pastor Wade Ditty officiating. Private family burial will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery, rural Gladbrook, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 14, 2007, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.
William B. Schadt was born May 25, 1927, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest and Mary (Schmidt) Schadt. After attending high school Bill enlisted in the United States Army. On February 19, 1955 he was united in marriage to Pauline E. Reed in Lancaster, Missouri. Bill owned and operated Bill's TV Sales and Service in Grundy Center for over 34 years, retiring in 1989. Bill was an avid fisherman and loved to do woodworking. Bill was a member of the Salem Church of Lincoln, the Lincoln Amvets Post, the Reinbeck American Legion, the Lincoln Fire Department, the Lincoln Commercial Club, various camping groups and bowled in several leagues in Grundy Center. Bill was named the 1986 Citizen of the Year in Lincoln.
Bill is survived by his wife Pauline; daughter: Linda and husband Dale McKinney of Sioux City, Iowa; sons: Vern and wife Amanda Schadt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Carl and wife Debbie Schadt of Waterloo, Iowa; daughters: Luan Mohr of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Mary and husband Craig Cormaney of Lincoln, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his mother Mary Lepley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a brother Art and wife Marge Espersen of Pangburn, Arkansas; 2 sisters: Beverly and husband Robert Scott of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Ethel Caps of Hiawatha, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Ernest Schadt; a brother Alvin Schadt; 2 sisters: Agnes Brown and Betty Bowers.
