William A. "Bill" Lowe, age 84, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his home in Reinbeck, while under the care of Unity Point Hospice. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. Burial will follow the funeral service at Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck.
Bill was born on May 15, 1929 in Waterloo, Iowa the only son of Lyman and Ruth Lowe. He was raised in Cedar Falls, IA and graduated from the Cedar Falls High School in the Class of 1946. Bill was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jane Campbell, on May 28, 1949 at the Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls. Since 1951 they have made Reinbeck their home and there they welcomed two children into their family.
Bill began working for Moeller & Walter, Inc. in 1951 and eventually he became the owner and president of the company, retiring in 1984. Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. He was an avid outdoorsman. Bill liked to hunt and he especially enjoyed sharing Sunday mornings with the Brahma Gang, a tradition he kept since 1968. He was a 50 year member of the Reinbeck Masonic Coin Lodge #394, a 25 year Reinbeck Volunteer Fireman and a 20 year Captain of the Grundy County Sheriffs Reserves. However, Bill's true joy in life came from spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife Jane; daughter Deb (Bill) Creswell of Roscoe, IL; son Scott W. Lowe (Susan de Surrency) of Reinbeck, IA; grandchildren Tyler Anderson, Matt Lowe, Ross Anderson, Adam Lowe, Patty Gramer and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
