Wilbur M. Culbertson, 80, of Grundy Center, died from natural causes on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm on Friday, December 21, 2007 at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center with Pastor Matt Miller of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home.
Wilbur was born January 3, 1927, in Edgewood, Iowa, son of Earl and Laura (Hamlet) Culbertson. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1945 and on June 17, 1951 was united in marriage to Ardith V. Parkinson. They moved to Grundy Center in 1958. He had been employed as a feed delivery driver for Walnut Grove Feeds of Atlantic, Iowa serving farmers in the areas of Grundy Center, Dysart, and Independence, Iowa. He was a member of the Grundy Center United Methodist Church and enjoyed mowing, woodworking, fishing, watching trains, and baking.
Surviving is his wife, Ardith; daughters, Kathy (Mike) Dolash of Tama and Karen (Russ) Mercer of Grundy Center; grandchildren, Jenny Franzoni, Jason Dolash, and Brandon and Aaron Mercer; great-grandson Hunter Mercer; sister, Joyce Hansel of Edgewood; and brother, Derwood Culbertson of Edgewood. Preceding him in death was his parents; sister, Helene Hansel; and brothers, Merwin and Dale Culbertson.
