Wendy Peña

January 28, 1967 — September 24, 2018

Wendy R. (Venenga) Peña loving wife, sister, and mother of three went to be with the Lord on September 24, 2018. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Wendy was born on January 28, 1967, to Wendell and Norma Venenga of Aplington, IA.  Wendy worked in the healthcare field for 30 years doing what she did best, taking care of people. She started her career at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley and finished her career at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. She touched everyone’s lives she came in contact with and made many friends along the way.

Wendy had two passions in life. The first was taking care of people and animals. Wendy had a special ability to get people to come together and enjoy each other’s presence.  In these occasions you would often see a dog or two in her lap. She was the happiest if she managed to get all three of her sons under the same roof. She loved the holidays and having the whole family together especially when her first granddaughter arrived.

The second was sharing the good news of Christ and expressing her faith. She always made you feel welcome and put other’s needs in front of hers because Jesus first did that for us. Wendy had so much joy when she was able to bless others by spending time or sending gifts to family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to give all thanks and glory to God.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Pepe, her three sons, Landon, Levi, and Lance with his wife Amanda and the cutest granddaughter Alayna, and her sister Sheila and her husband Ian. Wendy is preceded in death by her father, Wendell, and her mother, Norma.
