Wayne C. "Bub" Bean, 87, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 13, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck, with Pastor Randy McGrady-Beach officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery, with full military rites provided by the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242. Visitation will be Sunday, November 12, 2006, from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A memorial fund has been established. French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck is serving the family of Wayne C. "Bub" Bean.

Wayne was born March 25, 1919, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Harley and Harriett (Carroll) Bean. He received his education in Reinbeck and graduated with the class of 1936. After high school he worked at the drugstore in Reinbeck until enlisting in the United States Army. Wayne served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged. Upon returning home from the war, Wayne became the co-owner of Bean and Nissen Drugstore. On December 10, 1946, Wayne was united in marriage to Donna Mason at his mother's home in Reinbeck. Wayne worked at his drugstore for many years until retiring in 1975. His wife Donna died in 1972, and he continued to make Reinbeck his home. In March 1975, Wayne was united in marriage to Catherine Watson. They made their home in Reinbeck, and spent their winters in Arizona. Catherine died in 1996. While able, Wayne still traveled to Arizona to spend his winter months, and since 2002, he remained in Reinbeck.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. Wayne also was a member of the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242; and the Grundy County Voiture 40/8. Wayne had also served as a past city council member. He loved to golf, and enjoyed watching sports on television. Wayne enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by three daughters Susan Wyatt and her husband Frank of Hudson, Iowa; Janis Bean of Reinbeck, Iowa; Marsha Bean of Reinbeck, Iowa; one son James Bean and his wife Karen of Silvis, Illinois; five grandchildren Monte Wyatt and his wife Lisa of West Des Moines, Iowa; Matt Wyatt and his wife Chelsea of Reinbeck, Iowa; Addie Bean of Decorah, Iowa; Maggie Bean of Reinbeck, Iowa, and Eli Bean of Reinbeck, Iowa; six great-grandchildren Katie, Alison, and Janie Wyatt; and Cael, Aiden, and Ava Wyatt; one brother Harley Bean and his wife Jo of Pinehurst, North Carolina; two nieces Katy Howell and her husband Duane of Denver, Colorado; Nancy Bean of Woodbridge, Virginia; one nephew Tom Bean and his wife Theresa of Lenexa, Kansas; and two step-daughters Marcia Sulentic and her husband Bill of Sumner, Iowa; and Janet LePon of Ames, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife Donna; his wife Catherine; two brothers Gerald and Lyle Bean; two sisters Harriett Schutt and Ruth Bean; and one stepson Richard Watson.
