Vivian J. Claussen, 81, of Hudson, Iowa died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Manor Care Health Services in Waterloo, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, Iowa with a brief memorial service at 12:30 p.m. Following the visitation there will be a celebration of life gathering held at Otter Creek in Tama County at 3:00 p.m.
Vivian Jean Hulme, daughter of Dale and LaVon Lage Hulme was born on January 29, 1934 at her parent's home in rural Tama County. She received her education and graduated from Dinsdale Consolidated High School in 1951. Vivian had an outgoing personality and worked for several businesses in Traer, Iowa and the surrounding communities. In 1952, Vivian married Albert Lorenz in Nashua, Iowa. The couple later divorced. On April 2, 1971 Vivian married John Claussen in Cedar Falls. The couple resided in Reinbeck and in 1976 moved to Hudson. Vivian enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, camping, fishing, gambling, and playing cards. She loved to dance and listen to music.
Survivors include her husband, John Claussen of Hudson, IA; sons, Gary Lorenz and significant other Jodi Rowe of Reinbeck, IA; Michael (Jody) Claussen of Washburn, IA; Clayton (Vicki) Claussen of Iowa City, IA; daughters, Cheryl (Roland) Neil of Denver, IA; Susan Parham of Marion, IA; brothers, Harold (Twyla) Hulme of Unionville, IA; Ron "Fritz" Hulme and significant other Bev Schons of Traer, IA; 24 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Van Hauen; son, Terry Lorenz; son-in-law, Al Parham; grandson, Corey Claussen; and her brother, Harlan Hulme.
