Virgil Royce Wulf, 88, of Reinbeck, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 15, 2012, at the Saint John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa, with Pastor Bruce Boyce officiating. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery in Reinbeck. Visitation will be Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., with the family present to greet friends, at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Memorials may be made to the family.
Virgil was born on November 28, 1923 in Reinbeck, the son of Walter & Anna (Peters) Wulf. A lifelong Reinbeck resident, Virgil attended school in Reinbeck and graduated from Reinbeck High School. From 1943 to 1946, Virgil honorably served his country with the United States Army during WWII. On April 22, 1947, Virgil was united in marriage to Arlene Gauger at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. Virgil and Arlene owned and operated a café in Reinbeck early in their marriage. Virgil then owned and operated Wulf Plumbing and Heating for 55 years.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he held many offices over the years. He was an active member of the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242, serving as Chaplin until recently, 40 and 8 and the Reinbeck Lions Club. Virgil loved spending time with his family, especially going to their summer place in Lake City, MN, where they he enjoyed fishing and boating. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene of Reinbeck; daughter, Mary Wulf and Rick Morris of Zumbro Falls, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
