Viola Collins

Viola "Vi" Collins, 79, of Eldora, Iowa died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Eldora, with Pastor Mark Chapman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service on Saturday at the First Baptist Church.

Viola Margaret Brock, daughter of Wilber and Anna Reece Brock was born February 5, 1936 in Norburn, Missouri. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1954. On March 18, 1955, Vi married James Kenneth Collins at Shepherd A.F.B. in Wichita Falls, Texas. After Ken's retirement from the Air Force in 1974, the couple resided in Eldora where her main vocation was as a homemaker. She also operated an in home daycare for over six years and for many years, had a cake baking business with her daughter Deb, in which they specialized in wedding cakes. Vi loved spending time with her grandkids, going out to eat, going to tea rooms with her daughter Deb, enjoyed shopping for others, and loved her Bassett Hounds.

Survivors include her husband, Ken of Eldora; daughter-in-law, Pam (Steve) Collins-Schaller of Clear Lake; sister, Frances (William) Johnson of Mommoth Springs, AR; brother, Harold Brock of Eldora; sister-in-law, Patricia Brock of Des Moines; grandchildren, Jamie (Shannon) Balvanz, Jesse (Jen) Collins, Missie (Ryan) Lafrenz, Jim (Tonya) Collins; great grandchildren, Brock, Ava, Chase, Riley, Tate, Blakely and Kendrick.

In addition to her parents, Vi was preceded in death by her son, Rick Collins; daughter, Deb Collins; brother, Kenneth Brock; and her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Delawyer.
