Vernon Meints, 86, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died January 4, 2008, at the Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Vernon was born March 11, 1921, in Wellsburg, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Annie (Gronewald) Meints. He received his education at the Country School near their home. On October 19, 1955, Vernon was united in marriage to Ella May Henze in Holland, Iowa. They started their married life farming in the Colfax area for a time before moving to the Grundy Center area. He was a member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland and was active in his church. They moved from the farm in 1986 to Grundy Center where he resided until his death. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Many hours were spent driving in the countryside to look at area farms and crops.
Vernon is survived by is wife Ella of Grundy Center; daughter Verla and her husband Dan Suchy of Elberon, Iowa; daughter Deanna and her husband David Harms of Hampton, Iowa; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; sister, Velma Meints of Grundy Center, Iowa; brother Vincel (JoAnn) Meints of Wellsburg, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
