Twyla Winters

Twyla Byrdene Winters, 95, of Hampton, formerly of Eldora, Iowa, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Franklin General Hospital Nursing Home in Hampton, Iowa.
She was born January 3, 1911 in Whitten, Iowa in Grundy County. She was the daughter of Samuel and Hazel (Dunn) Newby. On October 4, 1934 she was united in marriage to Everett P. Winters at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union was born a daughter Joylyn Marie.
Twyla liked to quilt, do handiwork, read, play 500 and visit with family and friends. Many family gatherings were held in her home. Twyla was a member of the First Congregational Church in Eldora, joining the church in March of 1949.
Twyla is survived by her daughter: Joylyn Chapple and her husband Rev. John of Hampton, Iowa; her three granddaughters: Debra Zenor, Diane O?Connor, and Donna Wallace; seven great grandchildren; her brother: Roland Newby of Steamboat Rock, Iowa; and her sister: Alice Fitzgerald of Marshalltown, Iowa.
Twyla was preceded in death by her husband: Everett Winters; her parents: Samuel and Hazel Newby; a sister: Effie Harms; a brother: Dale Newby and an infant brother who died at birth.
