Travis Kriegel

Travis Allen Kriegel, 42, of Whitten, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Abels Funeral and Cremation Service, Creps-Chapel, in Eldora. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Travis was born on January 19, 1977 in Iowa City, Iowa, to his parents Wendell and Lois Kriegel. He graduated from BCLUW High School in the class of 1995. Upon graduation, Travis enlisted in the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked as a shift supervisor at Quality Products in Eldora, a CNA at Eldora Nursing and Rehab and his most recent employment was as a truck driver for IAS in Union. Travis enjoyed fishing, the outdoors and loved camping; but his true joy in life came from spending time with his family.

Travis is survived by his mother Lois (David) Iverson;  sister Shannon Pearce (her fiancé Jason Thiessen); brother Jason (Teri) Kriegel; 2 nephews; 5 nieces; a great-nephew; 2 aunts; 3 uncles; step-children Brittany Purk and Andy Gardner; grandchildren Nathan Hunt and Jackie Purk and special friend Shavonna Wilken. He was preceded in death by his father Wendell Kriegel; grandparents Lawrence & Brenda Catherwood and Wilbur & Waneta Kriegel; and his aunt Donna Lepley.
