Tony M. Muller

April 4, 1960 — December 31, 2024

Holland, Iowa

Tony M. Muller of Holland, Iowa, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. He was under the compassionate care of Cedar Valley Hospice at UnityPoint Hospital in Grundy Center. Born on April 4, 1960, to Elmer and Harriett Muller, Tony's early years on a farm in rural Parkersburg ignited his lifelong passion for the outdoors, agriculture, and gardening. He attended elementary school in Parkersburg before his family moved to Holland in 1971. He graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1978. After high school, Tony earned a technical degree in auto mechanics from Hawkeye Community College. In March 1994, he married Sian Jorgenson; they later divorced.

Tony's life was a testament to hard work. He honed his butchering skills at Gene's Locker in Holland during high school, a talent that complemented his love for hunting and fishing. He worked at Payco Seed Company in Holland before joining Pioneer Hi-Bred in Reinbeck, IA, where he managed maintenance and traveled the country to help build new seed corn plants. Tony's work later took him to FEMA, where he played a crucial role in the cleanup efforts following Parkersburg's devastating F5 tornado and later in Mason City.

An avid outdoorsman, Tony found immense joy in hunting and fishing. His green thumb was unparalleled, and he could grow any plant, vegetable, or flower. A cherished tradition was picking wildflower bouquets for his mother, a gesture that spanned decades. Beneath his rugged exterior, Tony had a heart of gold. He generously shared the fruits of his garden and his hunting and fishing expeditions, and he was known for crafting the best horseradish sauce around. His love for classic rock radio was always present.

Tony is survived by his sister Jodi and brother-in-law Sean Stotser from Sandy Springs GA, many cousins, and close friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, aunts, and uncles.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be on Saturday, January 11, from 1-4 p.m. at Bar Lea Roots Event Center, 24735 U Avenue T-55, Reinbeck, IA. May Tony rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors he cherished so deeply.
