Thomas A. Voy, 66, of Fairbank, Iowa, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the Allen Memorial Hospital, in Waterloo, Iowa. Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Lord Of The Harvest Lutheran Church in Fairbank, Iowa, with Pastor Scott Jans officiating. A memorial fund is established.
Tom was born April 26, 1941 in Hampton, Iowa. He was raised by his father August David Voy in Hampton, Parkersburg, and then Tom graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1959. On September 28, 1963 he was united in marriage to Joan Carol Schmudlach at the Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Iowa. Tom worked at Young Plumbing and Heating in Waterloo as a licensed plumber from 1964 until retiring for health reasons in 1987. In 1966 Tom went to serve his country as a Spec 5 in the United States Army as a construction engineer. Tom also farmed near Fairbank from 1976 until 1987 and then continued to help his son Kevin until the time of his death. Tom enjoyed restoring old tractors with his son and loved to spoil his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Joan; son Kevin and his wife Danielle Voy of Fairbank, Iowa; two grandchildren Kyle and Elle Voy; a mother in law: Bertha Schmudlach of Waterloo, Iowa; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother in infancy, and a father in law: Roland Schmudlach.
