Thomas Charles Rich

Thomas Charles (Tom) Rich, 80, of Dike died Thursday, January 26, 2023, in the Hospice Unit at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA. 

Tom was born in Finchford, IA to Guy and Edyth (Holcomb) Rich on May 6, 1942. He graduated from Dike High School in 1960, and in 1963 he was married to Barbara (Eddy) Rich. They have made their home in Dike, IA, for many years. Tom retired from John Deere, Waterloo, in 2003. He served in the US Army, Iowa Army National Guard, and retired from the US Army Reserve in 2002. He was a lifelong member of the Dike United Methodist Church, and he was active in many organizations including the American Legion, Masons, El Kahir Shrine, and Mobile Nobles. 

Tom enjoyed many things – talking with friends and neighbors, spending time with his family, and working on cars and projects at his house. He was a big fan of music, particularly Elvis Presley.

Tom is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Michaela and Jessica Rich, son-in-law Curt Hanson, grandchildren Elise, Aubrey, Alex, and Taylor Hanson, and his two sisters, Sharon Paulson and Roxanne Trotter. 

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7th from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the Dike United Methodist Church, Dike, IA. A funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday, February 8th at 10:30am.
