Theodore "Ted" Kolthoff, 86, of Eldora, Iowa died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made with the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa.
Ted Kolthoff, son of Hilko and Christina Ascher Kolthoff was born December 31, 1930 in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. He attended rural school and graduated from Steamboat Rock High School. Ted honorably served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Ted farmed in Hardin County from 1958 until 1975. Ted also worked at Purina (Cargill) in Iowa Falls where he worked in Maintenance for over 41 years. He was a member of the American Legion Walter-Sayer Post #182 of Eldora. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Laurie (Jerry Grimm) Ruby of Alden, IA, Robert (Debra) Pingel of Council Bluffs, IA, Ann (Ernest) Kurtz of Whittimore, IA, Mary (Dennis) Klaffke of Alden, IA, Julie Drake of Denver, CO, Susan Kolthoff of Salt Lake City, UT, and Theodore Kolthoff Jr. of Ottumwa, IA; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his sister, Katherine Richardson of Eldora, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Carol, he was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
