Ann "Dorothy" Davis, 79, of Eldora, Iowa, died from complications of Alzheimer's on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, Iowa. Private family graveside services will be held on Tuesday morning, June 22 at the Eldora City Cemetery with a public memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. There will be no evening visitation. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born October 1, 1924 near Dysart, Iowa, daughter of Earl P. and Anna Mae (Allison) Messer. She was raised in Eldora graduating from Eldora High School in 1943, and then attended the Cedar Falls Teacher's School. On July 8, 1945 she was united in marriage to Johnnie H. Davis in Eldora. They were later divorced. She spent most of her adult life in Eldora, teaching school in the Hubbard School System, working as a clerk at Anderson Drug, for Infantseat, Wink Products, and the Pine Lake Country Club. She enjoyed doing needle-work, drawing, working puzzles, fishing, and raising house plants. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Sherry (Larry) Norman of Union and Patricia (Mike) Meeks of Grand Prairie, Texas; sons, Michael Davis of Fairfield, David (Karen) Davis of Arvada, Colorado, and Jeffery Davis of Lebanon, Illinois; Brother, Ed (Verla) Messer of Forest City; and by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Amber Jane; her parents; and brother, Glenn Messer.
