Terrance Joseph Portz

Terrance “Terry” Joseph Portz, 77, of Eldora passed away on May 24, 2024, after saying goodbye to a steady parade of family and lifelong friends. Terry was an adored husband, father, father-in-law, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. Terry loved the community of Eldora and spent his best years raising sons Chris and Tim there with his beloved wife Annie. He loved to golf and spend time in the outdoors hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Terry is survived by his sons Chris (Paula) and Tim (Molly), grandchildren Keenan, Jack, Daniel and Joseph and sisters Pam (Ridgway) and Karen (Pickerell).  He is preceded in death by his wife Annie (Griffel), brother Paul, and his parents Marcella and Earl.  Born in Ottumwa, Iowa on July 14, 1946 Terry graduated from Eldora High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country proudly in Vietnam. Terry was a member of the Pine Lake Wildlife Club, Pine Lake Archers and Pine Lake Country Club and delighted in serving those organizations throughout his life. A lifelong Iowa football fan, Terry passed many happy Saturdays exchanging high fives with his enthusiastic family cheering on the Hawks. A special thanks to the staff and medical professionals at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital and Cedar Valley Hospice who provided such great care to Terry in his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Annie and Terry Portz Memorial Scholarship fund at the Hardin County Savings Bank, 1202 Edgington Ave, Eldora, IA 50627. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 13 at the Christian Fellowship Church of Eldora, 1415 12^th Street, Eldora, Iowa. A celebration of life reception will be held from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Gehrke's Shed, 1611 3rd Street Place, Eldora.
