Tate Curtis Johnson, 9, of Dike, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011 as a result of an accident. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September, 14th, 2:00 P.M. at the Dike-New Hartford High School Gymnasium. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13th from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Dike United Methodist Church, 439 Church Street in Dike. Burial will follow funeral services at the Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. The family has requested that those attending the funeral wear DNH Wolverine clothing or blue.

Tate was born on June 25, 2002 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Curt & Leah (Arends) Johnson. Tate lived in Dike with his three brothers Tanner, Trevor and Trent and was in the third grade at the Dike-New Hartford Schools.

He enjoyed wrestling, baseball and football. He was known as "Tater Tot" or "Tater Bean". Tate loved riding his bike with his friends, playing with the kids in the neighborhood, fishing at the family cabin in Minnesota, visiting the farm in Albia, Iowa, loved his dog Chester and enjoyed hanging out with uncle Mike. Tate was a very friendly little guy with lots of friends and a great smile. He was a true DNH Wolverine and is going to be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tate is survived by his parents Curt & Leah of Dike; his three brothers Tanner, Trevor and Trent, all at home; maternal grandparents Vern & Dorla Petersen of Dike, paternal grandmother Shirley Johnson of Dike and "Grandma Jan"; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa Rich Johnson, maternal grandpa Larry Arends and uncles Kendall Buskohl and Mark Arends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at the State Bank and Trust Co. in Dike/New-Hartford.
