Stuart L. Pettigrew, 52, of Eldora, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Eldora United Methodist Church with Pastor Vicki Reece officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Eldora United Methodist Church from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 7, 2014. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Stu was born on Mother's Day, May 14, 1961 in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Richard and Marcia (Setchell) Pettigrew. He was raised in Eldora and graduated from Eldora High School with the Class of 1979. He was united in marriage to Marsha Belknap on May 31, 1981 at the Eldora United Methodist Church. Together they welcomed two children into their family.
Stu worked at Whink Products as a Warehouse & Shipping Manager for 35 years. He was a lifelong member of the Eldora United Methodist Church. Stu was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader, an active member of the Eldora bowling, softball, golf and pool leagues and an avid poker player. He loved his Harley and riding it with his wife Marsha and his granddaughter Ellea. Stu and his brother Brad were a big comfort to their mother Marcia during her illness. Music was a big part of his life. He loved to sing and play guitar. Stu was known for his sense of humor and for being able to make anyone laugh. There were no strangers to Stu, only friends he hadn't met yet. Stu was a true family man. His true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. The time he spent with friends was precious to him as well.
Stu is survived by his wife Marsha Pettigrew of Eldora, IA; children Brent (Jen) Pettigrew of Cedar Rapids, IA and Mandy Nicole Pettigrew (Dustin Arends) of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren Jordan Irwin, Ellea Krep and Khloe Nicole Pettigrew; mother Marcia Thompson of Eldora, IA; brother Brad Pettigrew of Austin, TX; sisters Debbie Kissel of Surprise, AZ and Angie Pettigrew of Yankton, SD; mother-in-law Dee Belknap; step-father Kyle Thompson; step-mother-in-law Robbie Daisy and step-mother Marilyn Pettigrew; niece Kristel Morton and nephew Brandon Morton and brothers-in-law Rodney and Roger. He was preceded in death by his father Dick Pettigrew and fathers-in-law Francis Belknap and Roger Daisy.
