Steven P. Sayer, 39, of New Providence, died in Eldora on Sunday, November 12, 2006. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, November 16, at the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church in New Providence, Iowa with Pastor Arlen Daleske officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Chapel Cemetery near New Providence. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Steven was born April 9, 1967, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, son of Philip A. Sayer and Cindi L. Brown Sayer McCabe. He graduated from the New Providence High School in 1985 and worked as a mechanic for several area shops before going to work for United Suppliers. He has been employed with United Suppliers for fourteen years, most recently in the Chemical Terminal Division. On October 26, 1996 he was united in marriage to Nancy Shore and they made their home in New Providence. Steve enjoyed tinkering in his shop on cars and motorcycles and was also a train collector.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Nicholas Sayer of Eldora; step-children, Emely Shore of New Providence and Loyde Allen of Iowa Falls; father and step-mother, Philip and January Sayer of Nevada; mother and step-father, Cindi and Dennis McCabe of Roland; step-mother, Jerri Newman of Iowa Falls; sister, Angela Sayer (Wes Moler) of Zearing; half-brothers, Shawn McCabe (Maria) of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Michael McCabe (Rachelle) of Hubbard; paternal grandparents, Dale and Marjorie Schwarck of Iowa Falls; step-granddaughter, Raya Allen; three nephew, Jacob, Garret, and Blake; two nieces, Caitlin and Zoe; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Wendell Sayer and maternal grandparents, Arel and Katherine Brown.
