Sophia J. Frost, 70, of New Hartford, Iowa, died Monday, October 21, 2013, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Per Sophia's wishes she has been cremated. A gathering to Celebrate Sophia's Life will be held Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Sophia June was born June 3, 1943, in Hull, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Gertrude (Lokhorst) DeJager. Sophia grew up in Belflower, California attended school and graduated from Valley Christian High School. In 1963 she moved to the Waterloo, Iowa. On June 9, 1963, Sophia was united in marriage to Ronald Frost in Waterloo, Iowa. After marriage they lived in Waterloo before moving to New Hartford, Iowa in 1975. She worked for New Hartford schools as a cook retiring in August 1999. She was a member of the Rebekahs of New Hartford.
Sophia enjoyed playing cards, crafts and playing Bingo on the computer. Most of all her family was a priority in her life. She enjoyed being with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Ron of New Hartford; children, Douglas Frost and wife Charlotte of Grundy Center; and Todd Frost of Idaho;5 grandchildren, Jonathon Frost, Katharine Frost, Jessica Frost, Candace Taylor and Olivia Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William DeJager.
