Shirley F. Viola, 75, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. Memorial services will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Reinbeck, Iowa. A lunch will be served at 12:30 P.M. at the First Baptist Church Annex. Memorials may be made to The Cancer Treatment Center 200 E. Ridgeway Ave. Suite 200, Waterloo, Iowa 50702 in Shirley's name.
Shirley Faye was born February 18, 1938, in Epps, Louisiana the daughter of Willie Lee and Bunner Mae (Farmer) Derrick. She grew up in the Epps area and attended schools graduating with the class 1957. After graduation she was united in marriage to Thurman Viola on May 23, 1957, at her parent's home in Rayville LA. After their marriage they lived in Louisiana and later moved to Austin, Texas. Shirley moved to Reinbeck to be close to her daughter, Taresa in September of 2012. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends. But most of all spending time with her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Taresa (Tim) Tripp of Reinbeck, Tammy (Randy) Whatley of West Memphis, AR and Tracy Viola of Austin, TX; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: brothers, Lee Derrick of Bastrop, LA, Charles Derrick of Winnsboro, LA; sister, Lucie Brousard of Youngsville, LA.
Preceding her in death was her parents, husband, Thurman; grand daughter, Kerri Tripp; brother Mervin Derrick.
