Sheila Cole

July 25, 1968 — February 10, 2013

Sheila Jo Cole, 44, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Sunday February 10, 2013, near Parkersburg, Iowa as a result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 15, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center, Iowa, with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Peter Church Cemetery rural Wellsburg, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center Memorials may be made to Grundy National Bank for Sheila's children.
Sheila was born July 25, 1968, in Sioux City, Iowa, and then adopted by John and Joan (Nederhoff) Winger. Sheila was raised in Wellsburg area and attended Wellsburg schools and graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1986. After graduating from high school Sheila attended La James College of Cosmetology in Waterloo. Sheila was a hair dresser for four years then went to work at Family Foods in Grundy Center, IA. Sheila was united in marriage to John Cole on September 10, 1993 at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. They later divorced. She was sales manager for US Cellular for the last 10 years at the Van Wert Company. Sheila helped coached volleyball and soccer for Grundy Center schools. Sheila attended every school event that her children participated in. She was a avid golfer and bowler. Sheila loved to spend time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her children: son Cody and daughter Katie; three brothers, Dave (Michelle) Winger of Lewisville, TX, Darrell (Kara) Winger of Bakersfield, CA, Greg (Sarah) Winger of Wellsburg; ex-husband John Cole of Grundy Center; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Cindy Simms, Terry and Rhonda Cole, Larry and Julie Cole, Kevin and Lisa Swalley and Steve and Cherri Jackson; 18 nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
