Sharon Kay Orr, 60, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Following cremation, Private family services will be held. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.
Sharon was born September 3, 1944 in Cushing, Iowa. At the age of seven, after the death of her biological mother, Sharon was adopted by Marvin and Marlys (Hoppenworth) Haverkamp and was raised in Tripoli where she was educated in the Sumner School System. She was married to Wendell Brase in 1963 and they later divorced. She moved to Union in 1988 and on May 27, 1989 was united in marriage to Thomas Orr at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Eldora.
She had been employed at the can recycling center in Tripoli, the creamery in Fredericksburg, and had done baby sitting. While in Union and Eldora she worked at Dodger Industries, the Eldora Pawn Shop, and for Tiger Pack of the Eldora School System. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, crafting, camping baking, and collecting cookie jars.
Surviving Sharon is her husband, Thomas; adoptive parents, Marvin and Marlys Haverkamp; children, Neil (Deb) Brase of West Gate, Dawn (Thomas) Fox of Fulton, MO, Darcie (Keith) Bohle of Waterloo, Dina (Kip Grimson) Brase of Waterloo, Trevor Wiley of Eldora, and Thomas Orr Jr. of Eldora; biological sisters, Norma (Jim) Warnack of Colfax and Loretta Hamblin of Minden; adoptive sister, Lisa (Brent) Ackart of Hisparia, CA; biological brother, Walt (Diane) Wilke of Salemn, OR; adoptive brothers, Roger (January) Portwine of Panama City, FL, Tim (Shirley) Haverkamp of Tulsa, OK, and Steve (Kathy) Haverkamp of Grundy Center; and by thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Preceding her in death was a son, Tracy Brase; biological brothers, Mert Neville, Junior Neville, Steve Carmichael, Carl Penke; and biological sister, Robin Brink.
