Ruth M. Shore, 84, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 14 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. There will be no evening visitation, however, the family will be present to greet friends at the church for one hour prior to the services. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is serving the family of Ruth.
Ruth was born August 12, 1920, in rural Grundy County in the Ivester area, daughter of Daniel Elias and Ethel Anna (Briggs) Smith. She received her early education in country school then graduated from Eldora High School in 1938. On June 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to Charles Shore and they made their home in the Eldora area. Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Shore Farm Grainage. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ where she had taught children's Sunday school classes and was also a member of Womens Fellowship. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Ruth enjoyed bowling in earlier years and also enjoyed crocheting, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Joe (Charlene) Shore, Beth (Thomas) Rathe, and Randall Shore all of Eldora; brother, Wayne (Nellie) Smith of Eldora; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; two infant children; sister, Doris Dickinson; and brother, Joseph Russell Smith.
