Ruth Primus

Ruth J. Primus, 91, of Ackley, formerly of Steamboat Rock, passed away on Friday, April 7th at Grand JiVante Assisted Living in Ackley, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15th at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock, IA with Pastor Mike Brost officiating. Following the service, there will be a committal service at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements were made with the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.

Ruth was born on June 19, 1925, to her parents Claus & Esther (Fricken) Primus. She grew up in Steamboat Rock, Iowa, where she attended school and graduated in the class of 1943. Her main occupation was doing clerical work, working at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, in addition, in Colorado Springs, CO, Cheyenne, WY and Santa Fe, NM. She made her home at the Grand JiVante Assisted Living in July of 2016.

She was very active in the Presbyterian Church her entire life. Ruth enjoyed painting and loved to travel, especially to the Southwest Rocky Mountains.

Ruth is survived by her sister Gail Blair of Santa Fe, NM; niece Thea Quinn Blair of Des Moines, IA and nephews Kenneth R. (Kristi) Primus & Donald K. (Rosanne) Primus, both of Steamboat Rock, IA; great-niece Bailey Primus of Steamboat Rock, IA and great-nephew Jordan (Cara) Primus of Iowa City, IA. Preceding her in death are her parents; brother Paul Primus and brother-in-law Truman Blair.
