Ruth M. Lamasters, 78, of Eldora, Iowa, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora, Iowa, of natural causes.
Ruth M. Lamasters was born October 20, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Gertrude May and Peter Coyle. On May 30, 1947, Ruth was united in marriage to Joe Lamasters in Atchison, Kansas. After their marriage they moved to Dubuque, Iowa. After that they made Shenandoah, Iowa, their home for some time, and then they moved to Eldora.
While living in Eldora, Ruth was employed for some time as a telephone operator. She then went to work as a cook at the County Home in rural Eldora for a number of years. Ruth then began employment at the Eldora Hospital as well as the Eldora Manor, working as a nurses' aide for over thirty years, retiring in the early part of the 1990's. Ruth's husband Joe died on April 22, 1998, and Ruth continued to make Eldora her home. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. She loved to read and enjoyed knitting, made many afghans for her family.
She is survived by one son Gary Lamasters and his wife Suzanne of San Diego, California; two daughters Shelley Preston and her husband Fred of West Des Moines, Iowa; Sheila Rinnels and her husband Floyd of Eldora, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters Dorothy Sands of Dubuque, Iowa and Virginia Pregler of Dubuque, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joe in 1998; one son Terry Lamasters; and seven brothers.
