Ruth H. Hough, 98, of Naperville, Illinois, formerly of Eldora, Iowa, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at Tabor Hills Nursing Home in Naperville. Following cremation, Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 22, 2006, at First United Methodist Church in Eldora, Iowa, with Pastor Douglas Harding officiating. Private family burial will occur at the New Providence Cemetery in New Providence, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Quakerdale in New Providence.
Ruth was born August 24, 1907, in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas B. and Helen (Nuzzum) Hepburn. She was raised in Eldora, Iowa, and attended the Eldora High School. She then attended and graduated from the Iowa State Teacher?s College in Cedar Falls, now known as the University of Northern Iowa. On May 3, 1929, Ruth was united in marriage to Harold R. Hough in Grundy Center, Iowa. Ruth worked as a teacher in the New Providence and Eldora School Systems until her retirement in 1970.
Surviving her are one daughter Gretchen Anderson of Elmhurst, Illinois; one son Jim Hough and his wife Patty of Kyle, Texas; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold R. Hough; two sisters and one brother.
