Ruth was born on July 29, 1943, in South San Francisco, California, one of three daughters born to Steven & Doris (Chapman) Wilson. Ruth grew up and lived most of her life in California and Hawaii, as her father had a career in the Navy causing the family to have to relocate several different times. Ruth and her first husband welcomed three daughters into their family and the family then moved to Hawaii. Ruth eventually returned back to California where she completed a secretary college course and began work at John Wagner & Associates where she worked for 10 years. She met Galen Cox and the two were united in marriage on June 15, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple moved to Iowa and made their home in Dike in 2003.

She loved to travel to visit her family throughout the United States but Ruth really enjoyed painting and had a true gift for it. Her contributions to her family and friends will be forever remembered.

Ruth is survived by her husband Galen of Dike; daughters Cathy Miller of Brentwood, CA, Dianna (Mike) Lewis of Kollweiller, Germany and Gloria Cox of Brentwood, CA; 2 step-sons Robert (Anita) Cox of Belmont, NC & Michael (Sara) Cox of Dike; sisters Darlene Wilson of New Milford, NJ and Tress (One') Cordova of Concord, CA; 7 grandchildren Jason & Kevin Dhuyvetter of CA, Jacob & Ryan Cox of CA and Tanner, Tyler & Tessa Cox of Dike.
