Russell E. Roberts, 94, of Reinbeck, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Saturday, July 20th at the New Life Assembly of God in Reinbeck with the funeral service starting at 11:00 A.M. A private family burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at the Reinbeck Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family, to be contributed to Cedar Valley Hospice and to the New Life Assembly of God.
Russell was born on October 26, 1918 in Leroy, Minnesota, the son of Everett & Wilhelmina (MacWhirter) Roberts. He graduated from the Reinbeck High School and later attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Russell was united in marriage to Lavon Strohbehn on November 26, 1939.
He was an active member of the New Life Assembly of God of Reinbeck and was a member of the Reinbeck Masonic Coin Lodge #394. Russell was known for his unfailing smile, loving heart and his pockets full of candy.
Russell is survived by his children Mike Roberts, Becky Roberts, Phil (Judy) Roberts & Molly (Jim) Acridge; daughter-in-law Carolyn Roberts; numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his wife Lavon; two sons Steve & Chris Roberts.
