Ronald D. Sapp, born on July 11, 1948, in Eldora, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, in Grundy Center, Iowa. He was a beloved husband, and a devoted servant to his community.
Ronald's journey through life began with his education in Eldora, graduating in 1967 from Eldora High School. He briefly attended Elsworth College in Iowa Falls, Iowa, before being drafted on October 28, 1968, he bravely went to Vietnam, serving in the 25th Infantry until 1970. This experience was profoundly impactful, shaping his character and instilling in him values of duty and dedication.
In the years following his service, Ronald contributed meaningfully to his community through various careers. He started by driving Bluebird School buses in 1973, where he played a vital role in the lives of many students. This was followed by a position at Farmland Foods in Iowa Falls from 1978 to 1982. Ronald then joined Donco Industries in Albion, where he worked until his retirement in 1985. His steadfast work ethic was admirable and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A proud member of the Eldora Legion since 1970, Ronald took great pride in his military service and continued to honor it throughout his life. He was also a faithful member of the United Methodist Church, demonstrating his commitment to his faith and community.
Ronald had a zest for life, particularly evident in his love of the outdoors. Camping was one of his great passions, and he found solace and joy in nature’s embrace.
He leaves behind the loving memory of his wife, Charlene J. Sapp, who preceded him in death in 2006, alongside his parents, Dale and Genevea Sapp. Ronald is survived by his cousins, Donald R. Diamond, and his wife Connie, and Dave Diamond and his wife Marge.
Throughout his life, Ronald D. Sapp will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his kind heart, and his commitment to family and community. He has left an indelible mark on those lucky enough to know him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
