Roger D. Nederhoff, 63, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died from natural causes on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Monday, December 5 at the United Reformed Church in Wellsburg with Pastors Harold Miller and Doug Holmes officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg.
Roger was born October 19, 1942 in Eldora, Iowa, son of Carl and Carrie (Murra) Nederhoff. He attended Timothy Christian School through the eight grades then graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1960. On October 21, 1963 he was united in marriage to Marian Tapper at Lincoln Center Christian Reformed Church. Roger farmed near Wellsburg for 25 years and during that time also worked shearing sheep. In 1986 Roger began driving semi, owning and operating his own semi driving for Cardinal Transport out of Illinois. He moved into the town of Wellsburg in 1996.
He was a member of the United Reformed Church and also attended Sovereign Grace Church in Coulter, Iowa. While he was farming, Roger was a member of the State and County Sheep Producers Associations, held office at the ASCS Office, and for many years served as a 4-H leader. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family and also enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Snittjer Grain. He also enjoyed singing and was a race car enthusiast.
Surviving is his wife, Marian; son, Dean Nederhoff of Maryville, Tennessee; daughters Deanne (Doyle) Klingenborg of New Hartford and Dawn (Dan) Lenox of Melbourne; sister, Patricia (LuRay) Neessen of Holland; grandchildren, Matthew, Megan and Kristin Lenox and Jacob and Kayla Klingenborg; four step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Nederhoff.
