Roger R. Granzow, 50 of Eldora died from natural causes on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 20, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation is from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Memorials may be directed to the Good Shepherd Pre-school or the American Cancer Society.
Roger was born September 28, 1958 in Eldora, Iowa, son of Stan and Neva (Cable) Granzow. He was raised in Eldora and graduated from Eldora High School with the class of 1977 then received a 2 year Agri-Business degree at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. On December 4, 1976 he was married to Connie Isaac and to this union were born Jamie Lea, Tracy Lynn and Robin Rae. He later married Patrice E. Last “Patty” on July 7, 1990 and born to them were Jeffrey Thomas and Matthew James. Roger had been employed as operations manager in the Agricultural Chemical Division for United Suppliers of Eldora for more than 20 years and had been formally employed by the Iowa State Training School for Boys in Eldora and DeKalb Pfizer.
Roger was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, helped with his children’s youth league sporting events and served as a Cub Scout Leader for several years. He enjoyed helping with field work at the Teske Farms, loved traveling with his family and was an avid gardener. He especially loved attending and cheering on his children at their sporting events.
Survived by his wife Patty; his children Tracy Granzow of Austin, TX, Robin (Zach) Maas of Ames, Jeffrey and Matthew Granzow of Eldora; his parents Stan and Neva Granzow of Eldora; sister Renee (Tim) Harless of Eldora and Karma (Greg) Dickenson of Pella; paternal grandmother Gladys Granzow; grandchildren Avery Ann Schoggins, Lydia Eve and Marlee Rae Maas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jamie Lea; paternal grandfather George Granzow; and maternal grandparents Helen and Harold Cable.
