Robert C. "Bob" Walters, 92, of Eldora, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls while under Care Initiatives Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora with Pastor David Splett officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15th from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow funeral services at the Eldora City Cemetery.
Bob was born on September 6, 1920 in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Charles & Anna (Daleske) Walters. He grew up in rural Eldora and later graduated from Eldora Country School. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1945 until 1946. After returning home, Bob was united in marriage to Faithe Bonnichsen on April 24, 1949 in Des Moines, IA. The couple welcomed 5 children into their family. Bob worked as a farmer and raised pure bred hogs from 1946 until 1967, when he lost his hogs due to cholera. He later went on to get his real estate license and worked as a real estate broker working for various firms until becoming self-employed, opening Walters Real Estate in Eldora. He continued to work in real estate until he was in his mid 80's.
He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora, the Hardin County Fair Board, member and past president of the Horse Shoe Pitchers Association and a member of the Friends of Pine Lake. Bob loved horseshoes, fishing, being active & healthy. He will be dearly missed by those he left behind.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faithe of Eldora; children Greg (Patsy) of Fort Collins, CO, Angie (Brad) Stoner of San Diego, CA, Gordon (Susan) of Irvine, CA, Anita (Doug) Coffman of Iowa Falls & Chuck (Julie) of Eldora; 10 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Marvin (Jean) Walters of Ackley, Bill Walters of Marshalltown, Gary (Ruth) Walters of New Providence and Ron (Barb) Walters of Storm Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sisters Dorothy Goschke & Lucille Harrington; sister-in-law Pat Walters & brother-in-law George Goschke.
