Robert L. Liesener, Sr. "Bob" of Eldora, IA, age 80, passed away August 28, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Robert was born April 21, 1934 to Vernie and Lillian (Reimers) Liesener in Anita, Iowa. He served in the US Navy on the USS Gurke during the Korean conflict 1952-1956, honorably discharged in 1956. Robert married Barbara Fiscus in Dexter, IA on June 3, 1979. They moved to Eldora in 1990. He worked across the country for IBM and then retired from Gherke Construction in Eldora. He loved to fish at Pine Lake with his son Jeff, had a passion for country music and playing guitar with his son Vernie, hunting with his son Robert and playing cards with his granddaughter Gabby.
Robert leaves behind a loving spouse Barbara of Eldora, 3 sons Robert Liesener Jr. (Karla) of Parker, CO; Vernie Liesener (Kaye Dee) of Diagonal, IA and Jeffery Liesener (Kristi) of Eldora, IA, 3 daughters Lillian "Lori" Cochran (Ray)of Creston, IA; Donna Oertwig of Des Moines, IA ;Tammy Howard (Rick) of Adel, IA; and a brother Larry Liesener (Shirley) of Bemidji, MN. He is survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Vernie and Lillian, brother Marvin Brownlee, and daughter Lila Mick.
Memorial service will be held at Creps-Abel Funeral Home in Eldora on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. Officiated by Rev. David Splett.
