Robert M. Krause, 55, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Visitation will be held at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, May 19. Funeral services will follow visitation, at 7 pm, at the funeral home.
Robert was born July 24, 1955 in Eldora, son of Marvin Carl and Margaret Louise (Nessen) Krause. He lived the majority of his life in Eldora moving to Des Moines in January of 2009 to be closer to his medical care. Robert worked in painting and construction until becoming disabled 18 years ago as the result of a racing accident at the Eldora Speedway. Prior to his disability he enjoyed racing and working on cars. He continued to enjoy watching racing following his accident and followed NASCAR closely however his first love was fishing and he continued with this hobby with many friends even after his accident.
Surviving is his son, Aaron of Eldora; sisters, Bette Bartsch of Des Moines and Bonnie Stevens of Omaha; brother, Gary Albright of Mount Pleasant; beloved cousins, Lori and Vickie Krause of Los Angeles, California and Janie Krause of Dalbo, Minnesota; by care-giver, Steve Dunlap of Des Moines; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Paul and Bernie Albright.
