Robert D. Gibbs, 70, of Steamboat Rock died on Sunday, June 04, 2006 at his residence in Steamboat Rock. No public services will be held. Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert was born November 21, 1935, in Grundy County near Ivester, Iowa, son of Clinton and Irene (Botts) Gibbs. He graduated from New Providence High School in 1955 then served with the U.S. Army from June of 1955 until May of 1956. He lived in California until moving to Conrad, Iowa in the 1960s. He had been employed as a driver for Dave and Carol?s trucking in Union and then for Grain Farms Inc. of Conrad. He has lived in Steamboat Rock for the past eight years.
He is survived by brothers, Dale (Charlene) Gibbs of Conrad and Don Gibbs of New Providence. Preceding him in death were his parents.
