Robert "Rob" Cook, 55, of New Providence, Iowa, died October 5, 2011 at his home. Following cremation, memorial services will be 10:30 am on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Eldora United Methodist Church with Rev. Vicki Reece officiating Visitation is from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Eldora United Methodist Church in Eldora. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to distribute to various charities. Robert Frank Cook was born to Frank and Phyllis (Feldman) Cook on October 24, 1955 in Ames, Iowa. He grew up in the New Providence area. Rob attended school in New Providence and graduated from New Providence High School in 1974. He attended Iowa State University in Ames. On July 26, 1975, Rob married Joyce Miller in Hubbard, Iowa. Rob joined his father on the family farm then in 1989 Rob and Joyce farmed together on the Century farm and later were joined by Jared and Casey and their families in the family farming operation.

He was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church where he held the position of trustee. Rob and family were Hardin County Fair Boosters. Rob was on the Lawn Hill Co-op board, Prairie Land Co-op board and an Iowa State University Athletic Booster. Rob enjoyed riding on Ragbrai, attending the Iowa State Fair, the Hardin County Fair, camping, skiing and the yearly trip to Hawaii with Joyce. Rob and Joyce attended the Iowa State Women's Basketball games where they hold season tickets. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and beloved dog, Roscoe, on the farm.

Rob's most important role was that of husband to Joyce and father to his two children, Janelle Cook-Guiles and husband Casey of Union, Jared Cook and his wife Angie of Union; 4 grandchildren, Ava and Cash Guiles, Adeline and Laney Cook; a sister Barb Schwarck and husband Mark of Whitten, brother, Richard Cook and his wife Paige of Clive, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
