Ric D. Garrison, 42, of Eldora, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at St. Mary?s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, after a brief illness. Following cremation, Memorial Services will be 1:30 P.M., Monday, August 7, 2006, at the Eldora New-Providence High School Auditorium, in Eldora. Fellowship will follow immediately after the memorial service at Camp Quaker Heights, rural Eldora, where homemade pie will be served. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa Yearly Meeting, with a memorial to be named at a later date.
Ric was born August 22, 1963, to Clifford and Patricia (Parker) Garrison. He lived his childhood years in Eads, Colorado, and attended high school in Salida, Colorado, graduating in 1981. Ric then attended Barclay College (Friends Bible College). On July 10, 1982, Ric was united in marriage to Linda Kay Elliott in Haviland, Kansas. They were blessed with three children: Meredith, Patric, and Isaac Garrison.
He ministered in Friends Churches in League City, TX, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Hugoton, Kansas, and Cherokee, Oklahoma, before being named to the staff of Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends in Oskaloosa, Iowa. After a year as Director of Youth and Christian Education, he became Associate Superintendent of Youth and Camping Ministries, and as such, was director of Camp Quaker Heights of Eldora, Iowa, since 1996. He was a member of Chester Friends Church in Union, Iowa. Ric was an avid sports fan, and loved O-Gauge Model Trains.
He is survived by his wife Linda Garrison of Eldora, Iowa; one daughter Meredith Garrison; two sons Patric and Isaac Garrison all at home; his mother Pat Jones and her husband Sam of Pueblo, Colorado; two sisters Kathy Eikenberg of Montrose, Colorado; Debbie Carter and her husband Dave of Holdenville, Oklahoma; his grandmother Margit Parker of Lamar, Colorado; and one step-brother Sam Jones and his wife Andrea Frohning of Newton, Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his father Clifford Garrison; and one brother Lonnie Garrison.
