Reba Wehrman

December 30, 1923 — December 31, 2015

Reba D. Wehrman, went to heaven to be with her beloved husband, Wendy on December 31, 2015. Reba was born in Eldora, Iowa on December 30, 1923 to Arnold Reinhold and Clara Alvina (Jass) Ziesman. She attended Goose Creek School #4 and helped on her parent's farm until she met and married Wendell William Wehrman, Nov. 15, 1942. After marriage and WWII, they began farming. In 1953-54 they moved to Nevada for Reba's health and lived in Las Vegas where Reba continued to be a homemaker and, in her home, became a "teacher" and caretaker of preschool-age children. Wendy and Reba were members of First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where they were instrumental in the initiation and construction of what became Good Shepherd's K-8th grade Parochial School, one of the first in Las Vegas. Soon after Wendy went to be with Jesus in 2000, Reba returned to the Midwest to be close to family. She has resided in Valparaiso, Carmel, and, most recently, Avon, Indiana. Not very long ago, in the Memory Care Center of her assisted living home, Reba, ever the teacher and singer, burst forth in song, "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so".

Reba is survived by her sister, Laura Lange of Adel, Iowa and her brothers, Edward (Ione) Ziesman of Eldora and Melvin (Joyce) Nehring of St. Charles, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell and her son, Daniel of Las Vegas, and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Albert and Irene and Walter and Marlene Ziesman, all of Eldora. Reba is also survived by her children: Leola (Wesley) Bucher of Carmel, Indiana; William (Norma) of Avon, Indiana; her daughter-in-law Michelle of Las Vegas; and Thomas (Mary) of Pittsburg, Kansas. She has eight grandchildren: Christopher Bucher, Rachel Bucher Lima, Sarah Bucher Lillard, Joshua Bucher, and Michael Wehrman, Courtney, Clara, and Sophia Wehrman; and six great grandchildren: Ryan Wehrman, Calvin Bucher, Wesley Lima, Linus Lillard, Lidia Lima and Margot Bucher. She is also survived by many beloved and cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.

The celebration of Reba's life will begin Friday, January 8, 2016 with visitation from 4PM to 7PM at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. The celebration continues at St. Paul Lutheran Church 1105 Washington Street, Eldora, Iowa on Saturday, January 9 with visitation beginning at 10AM. A worship service celebrating Reba's life starts at 11:00 AM. After the service there will be a fellowship luncheon. The celebration concludes at 2:30PM with a graveside service at Eldora City Cemetery, at her final resting place beside her husband, Wendy. The family requests memorials to Lutheran World Relief or the Hardin County Farm Museum in lieu of flowers and in honor of Reba.
