Raymond Uke Bruns, 80 of Dike, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 22, 2010 at Fredsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Cedar Falls, IA with pastor Donald Feurhak officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Elmwood Cemetery, Dike, IA. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Dike, IA.
Raymond was born in rural Dike on December 3, 1929 to his parents Henry and Fannie Bruns. He was a life long resident of Dike. Raymond graduated from Dike High School in 1948. He was united in marriage to his wife Enola Rindels Bruns on December 6, 1957. He was employed at Clay Equipment in Cedar Falls for 40 years. Raymond also farmed Northwest of Dike until 1999. He was baptized, confirmed and married at Salem Lutheran church in rural Parkersburg. He then became a member of the Fredsville Lutheran Church. In his later life Raymond was a devoted grandfather and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He will be missed and long remembered by his friends and family.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Enola; his daughter Tammi (Charles) Chandler of Gallatin, TN; his sons David, of Waterloo and Dale (Christine) Bruns of Dike; his grandchildren Michael, Sarah and Samantha Chandler and Brook, Morgan and McKaila Bruns; his niece Sandra Bruns. Preceded in death by his parenets and brother William (Fanny) Bruns.
