Randell Dean Freese (60) of Reinbeck, IA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Abels Funeral Chapel. There will be a celebration of life to follow the service at the Memorial Building in Reinbeck. Inurnment will be held privately by the family at a later date. Memorial may be directed to the family.
Randy was born on March 3, 1964 in Waterloo, IA to his parents Harold and Bonnie (Ullrich)Freese. He was raised on a farm outside of Reinbeck and graduated from Reinbeck High School, class of 1982. He went on to earn his associate degree in Commercial Art from Hawkeye Tech. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force. He received training to be a firefighter and was then stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, SD.
After two years he returned to Iowa and began work at Eagle Tanning in Waterloo, IA where he stayed for 18 years. From there he went to work at TSM in Reinbeck until it shut down. His work career ended with what he considered family, a small crew that he truly enjoyed working with at LWI in Cedar Falls, IA.
Randy was united in marriage to Nancy Wachter on July 7, 1987. Together they made their home in Reinbeck for 34 years and welcomed three children into their family. Randy loved his toys, big and small. He enjoyed his Harley but also his Lego's, Hot Wheels, and Diecast collections. He was a tremendous artist and enjoyed doing projects for his buddies. Randy knew everybody and everybody knew Randy. Many were welcomed in 'The Shop'. His true joy in life was spending time with family, of whom he was enormously proud.
Randy is survived by his wife Nancy; father Harold; children Chris (Robyne) Freese, Danni Freese, and Travis Freese (Haley Frickson); grandchildren Huxton, Cohen, Crew and Aubrey, Nova, Logan; brothers Wade (Shelly), Russell (Julie), and a sister, Angie. A close family friend Jason Young. Along with many friends that he considered family. He was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie, brother Todd, father-in-law Richard, and his favorite dog Dudley.
