Ramona Bartos

Ramona A. Bartos, 88, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Voorhies, passed away on Tuesday, March 20th at UnityPoint Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo after a brief illness. The funeral service for Ramona will be held on Monday, March 26th at 10:30 AM at NewAldaya Lifescapes, 7511 University Ave., Cedar Falls, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the nursing facility. Burial will follow services at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Black Hawk County. Ramona was born on April 1, 1929 in Tama County, Iowa, to her parents E. Langley & Josephine (Bartos) Jensen. She grew up in Voorhies, where she attended country school. She graduated from Hudson High School with the class of 1947. After high school, Ramona began working at the Hudson Mutual Telephone Office as a switchboard operator for several years. She then went on to work for the Waterloo Courier where she worked as an operator, retiring after 39 years. She also was a caregiver to her mother Josephine. Two years after her mother moved to NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Ramona made her home there after she could not live on her own, due to an illness that left her almost completely paralyzed from the waist down.  She has been a resident of NewAldaya since 2009.

Ramona loved to go fishing! She looked forward to their annual family fishing trip every September to Leech Lake in northern Minnesota. She loved spending time with her family and she was especially close to her mother. They were best friends, inseperable, both sharing a love of strawberry and apple picking, baking, canning, making wonderful, homemade desserts and gardening. She will be missed by her two brothers and many other family members she leaves behind.

She is survived by her brothers Langley Jensen of Voorhies and Ernie (Kristin) Jensen of Janesville, IA. Ramona is preceded in death by her parents.
