Rachel E. Anderson, 98, of Eldora, died from natural causes on Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Valley View Nursing and Rehab Center in Eldora. There will be no services at this time. Memorials may be directed to the Eldora Public Library.
Rachel was born August 1, 1908 in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of Ole C and Carrie (Stader) Simpson. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1926 and attended business school after graduating. On April 6, 1930 she was united in marriage to A. Edwin Anderson in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple moved to Eldora in 1930. Rachel worked as the bookkeeper at the Anderson Drug Store which they owned and operated from 1940 ? 1973 when they retired. On April 7, 1982 Edwin passed away. Rachel moved to Allenton, Florida in 1983 and returned to Eldora in 1993. Rachel was a member and officer of the Business and Professional Women?s Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary. Rachel enjoyed needlepoint and traveling.
Rachel is survived by her 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a brother: Richard and his wife Bev Simpson of Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Edwin; son: Edwin A. Anderson; a daughter: Carolyn and her husband Glen Dole; three sisters: Vera Hagen, Elizabeth Gaines, and Eleanor Randleman; and three brothers: Glen, Lee and Willard Simpson.
