Phyllis M. Ruppelt, 82, of Steamboat Rock, Iowa, died from natural causes on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, October 13 at the First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock with Pastor Harrison Lippert officiating. Burial will follow at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Phyllis was born October 15, 1921, in rural Steamboat Rock, daughter of Philip and Susie (Santen) Ruppelt. She graduated from Steamboat Rock High School in 1939. She attended Cedar Falls Teacher's College and later received her M.A. degree from the University of Iowa in 1972. She worked as a social worker in Waterloo retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock, enjoyed volunteering for Hospice, and also helped prepare tax returns for friends and family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and traveling throughout the world.
Surviving Phyllis is her aunt, Dorothy Ruppelt of Steamboat Rock, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herman Richard Ruppelt; and a special friend, Merle Mersman.
