Phyllis A. Giesking, 71, of Reinbeck, died at her home on Sunday, November 17, 2013 while under the loving care of her family and Iowa Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22nd at 10:30 A.M. at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Reinbeck with Rev. Joel Love officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 5 to 7 P.M. at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Grant Township Cemetery. Phyllis was born on November 11, 1942, on a farm near Gilman, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred & Ellen (Cory) Walton. She attended school at the Union Community School through the 6th grade. Her family then relocated to Gladbrook. Phyllis graduated from the Gladbrook High School with the class of 1960. On August 20, 1961, Phyllis was united in marriage to Wendell Giesking at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Phyllis and Wendell lived in the Grundy Center area until 1966 when they moved to Reinbeck. Phyllis and Wendell welcomed 2 children into their family.

Phyllis helped her husband on the family farm with field work and ran the combine and corn picking machine. She also worked at the Skyway Supper Club in Reinbeck from 1985 until 2000.

She was a member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ where she served on the Board of Trustees, served on the Advisory Board, was past president of the Happy Hour Club and was past president of the Circle R's group. Phyllis was also a past member of the Salem Church of Lincoln where she taught Sunday school. Phyllis enjoyed sewing, knitting, cross stitching or any craft project, golfing, bike riding with friends and square dancing. Phyllis was also an avid animal lover but what she truly enjoyed most in life was her family, especially her grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Wendell of Reinbeck; children Tami Armijo of Phoenix, AZ and David (Kristy) Giesking of Reinbeck; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers James Walton of Dallas, TX, Stanley (Iola) Walton of Springdale, AR & Larry (Janis) Walton of Kalamazoo, MI; 2 sisters Karen Polson of Marshalltown, IA & Janice (Charles) D'Addario of Poway, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 niece.
