Peggy was born June 12, 1953, to Mary Alice and Marvin Sash in Marshalltown. She was raised on the family farm in Melbourne, Iowa, and spent much of her life there. On August 5, 1972, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marshall Mennenga. To this union they had 3 children, Shawn, Michelle, and Shannon.
Peggy had a huge heart for other people-- no one was a stranger to her. She treated everyone as if they were her own and made sure everyone was taken care of. She was a wonderful cook; cooking was considered her love language, and no one left her home unfed. She was incredibly proud of all her children and grandchildren, and never missed any of their events. Her nephew, Josh, said it best: “She gathered our family together, showed up for us, loved us, served us, and reminded of us all the best stories.”
Peggy was a power shopper and enjoyed a quick shopping trip with her granddaughters or purchasing from her chair. She always had a comeback and was never afraid of a joke. Peggy was well known for her candy stashes of chocolate and peanut M&Ms all over her house.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Marshall Mennenga; children Shawn (Christie) Mennenga, Michelle “Mickie” (Carl) Ray, and Shannon (Mike) Wright; grandchildren Garrett (Laura) Mennenga, Ashley (Ryan) Acks, Antanette Ray, Christian Ray, Emily Ray, Sasha Nagle, and Gracey Nagle; brothers Dennis (Laura) Sash and Mike (Barney) Sash; special friends Don & Roxanne Goecke; as well as many friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Alice and Marvin Sash, brother Craig Sash, nephew Tyler Sash, and parents-in-law Henry and Jeanne Mennenga.
