Pauline F. Huisman, 77, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away of natural causes, on Saturday, March 10, 2012, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa. A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at 12:00 P.M. at the Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor Phil Dicks officating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Pauline Fay was born on October 14, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Goldie (Hines) Crowley. Pauline grew up in the Waterloo area and attended school there. She received her GED from Hawkeye Tech.
Pauline was united in marriage to Vernon Huisman on November 19, 1950 in Waterloo, IA. They welcomed six children into their family. Pauline and Vernon made their home in Grundy Center. She worked as a nurse's aide in many nursing homes and most recently at Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center, Iowa.
Pauline was a member at the United Methodist Church in Grundy Center. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and attending craft shows all over. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Pauline is survived by her husband Vernon of Grundy center; children Virginia Martinez of Bolivar, MO, Kenneth Huisman and wife Trudy of Des Moines, Iowa, Larry Huisman and wife LuAnn of Kasson, MN, Janet Huisman of Eldora, IA, Pamela Arter of Dodge Center, MN & Shirley Williams of Marshalltown, IA; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren: brother, Leslie Crowley of Florida and sister, Jane Baldwin of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tommy Crowley, David Crowley, Robert Crowley; sisters, Lorraine Buck and Lois Roger; grandson, Duane Huisman; granddaughters, Mary Volker and Ruth Ann Volker; son-in-law, Danny Martinez; and several half brothers and sisters.
