Pauline "Polly" Barz, 96 of Eldora, Iowa passed away the morning of Friday, September 20th, in the comfort of her own home with her loving husband by her side. She was born October 12, 1927, near Hubbard, Iowa to Henrietta and Albert Doss. Pauline attended Hardin County High School and then later graduated from Drake University with a Master's in Administration.
She was a teacher, counselor and then principal at Knoxville community schools and taught into the later years of her life. When she was not teaching, she was helping her husband work their farm or traveling to see family members, loved ones and nature. Pauline enjoyed painting, quilting, card making, rug making, as well as writing and general creative pursuits. She was a dedicated member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eldora, Iowa, and her services will be held there at 10:30am on Saturday September 28, 2024, for all those who wish to attend and cherish her memory.
Polly was known by those who knew her as a strong and generous wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She never met a stranger, and her sense of humor, charisma, and care will be heavily missed by those whose lives which she touched.
Pauline is survived by her devoted husband of 75 years, Kenneth Barz, her granddaughter, Alyssa Barz, daughter-in-law, Alice Barz, and many nieces and nephews.
