Paul L. Sells

Paul Louie Sells, 85, of Grundy Center, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Creekside Living in Grundy Center. Visitation will be held at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center.

Paul was born in Black Hawk County, Iowa on September 30, 1937, to his parents Louie and Paula (Christensen) Sells. He graduated from Grundy Center High School in the class of 1955. Paul was married to Margaret Ann Snyder and the couple welcomed their children Pamela and David into their family. The couple later divorced. Paul was then united in marriage to Carol E. (Fricke) Sells on October 16, 1982. Carol brought her two children, Greg and Cathy into the family. Paul and Carol enjoyed 34 wonderful years together until Carol’s passing in 2017.

Paul worked at the Morrison Co-Op, was the owner of the Standard Oil station in Grundy Center and at Fisher Controls. Paul moved to California in 1987 to seek employment and worked for General Dynamic as a missile electronic assembler. He moved back to Iowa in 1993 to enjoy family. In 2020 Paul moved to Creekside Living, where he passed away.

Paul was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. He was an avid woodworker and beekeeper or apiarist and loved music, especially the Statler Brothers. He will be missed and long remembered.

Paul is survived by his daughter Pamela Sullivan; his stepchildren Greg Beem and Cathy Vergauwen; grandson Erik Sells; and great granddaughter Kyra Sells. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol Sells; son David Sells; and sisters Shirley Sells and Linda Gabbard Sells.
